PRS, Inc. has an exciting opportunity for a Chief Operating Officer (COO). Under the direction of the CEO, the COO works consultatively with internal and external leaders to implement high-level strategic, business development, programmatic and operational initiatives and activities. Working with executive leadership and Program Directors across the organization, the COO ensures the use of the most effective and efficient financial and operational systems, processes and controls. Through effective supervision and support of key administrative departments, the COO ensures all measures are taken to protect the credibility, reputation, and financial stability of the organization as well as the health and safety of employees, volunteers and clients.

  • Under the supervision of the CEO, implements or assists in the implementation of strategic, business development, programmatic, financial or operational initiatives.
  • Ensures that all quality improvement and quality assurance activities are completed, and that the organization complies with agency, licensure, accreditation, local, state and Federal policies, regulations and laws.
  • With the CEO, provides leadership for and undertakes business development activities to both expand and diversify the organization's financial resources and business/partner relationships.
  • Monitors key operational and programmatic activities at all PRS locations to identify opportunities for improved operational efficiencies and to ensure compliance with established strategic and operational initiatives, policies and procedures; recommend and implement improvements.
  • Provide leadership and oversight for assigned administrative and program department staff and activities.
  • Serve as Corporate Compliance Officer.


  • Minimum of bachelor's degree in business administration or related field; MBA preferred.
  • Nonprofit experience at a management and/or governance level.
  • Comprehensive accounting and financial functions knowledge and experience.
  • Experience with contract negotiations.
  • Strong understanding of mental health and suicide prevention services; knowledge of Virginia's behavioral health funding and service delivery system preferred.
  • Ability to Work effectively as a leader or member of a team to achieve results.
  • Effective written and interpersonal communication skills with diverse audiences.
  • Proficient in use of computerized spreadsheet software and related applications.
  • High degree of empathy toward the clients we serve.
